I’ve been working on some class samples for my January trapunto class as Sew-n-Save. These are table runners with trapunto used to “make” my quilt blocks. This particular table runner is being completed on the long-arm. I have another done in blues that was quilted entirely on my home machine – just in case anyone is worried that it can’t be done on a home machine.

November 7th, 2009What fun! Who knew backgrounds could be orange or blue?! Love the wild and zingy pinks and yellows and greens too!

November 4th, 2009Coming in January! After the holiday rush is over and its time to do something just for yourself, join in the fun and try out this Block-of-the-Month. Six months of patterns. Each block will come in two sizes, 12″ and 6″. Do them both like the sample quilt or do your own rendition. The completed Block-of-the-Month quilt will be pictured soon. interesting books I found in NC
October 28th, 2009As I was trekking around Beaufort, NC this weekend, I found one of the two nearby quilt shops and discovered this book. It is very similar to my Diamond Star pattern but is a much more complicated pattern. The finished star is 6-sided, not 8 like mine, and the samples were breathtaking. Check out this link to see the book. http://www.softexpressions.com/software/books/4I30505.php
Then the woman staying in the room next to me was a quilter and as she was toting her luggage, including sewing machine, out – I spied this terrific book in a pocket of her suitcase. She generously allowed me to peruse it. Wow – a pineapple diamond block. Check it out! I was blown away. http://www.softexpressions.com/software/books/PineapStars.php

Work in progress
October 20th, 2009I came to a standstill on a more current project – need to go the the quilt shop and get more steam-a-seam so I’ve pulled out a WIP – work in progress – not to be confused with a UFO. In my mind this Cathedral Window, sewn completely by machine, will be absolutely beautiful when its finished but as you can see by the stack of black squares waiting to be sewn, I’ve got a lot of finishing to do.
Turning Twenty
October 16th, 2009Just finished my challenge quilt for the Flying Geese Quilt Guild’s 20th anniversary challenge. The only requirement of this challenge was that your quilt had to have 20 of something.
This one uses 20 fabrics, has 20 flying geese units, 20 fall leaves and is 20 ” square. Lots of fun to do although I must admit I struggled with where to put all those leaves!!
Busy Monday
October 12th, 2009Flitted from project to project today – couldn’t stay focused and right about 4 pm came up with an idea for a quilt for the Flying Geese Quilt Guild 20th Anniverary Challenge due in 7 days. Below are pics from my quilting in the morning, appliqueing leaves in the afternoon and teeny-tiny geese at 5pm. Time to cook dinner now!
Tesselating Trees
October 8th, 2009These are table-topper size. Just finished the binding on the last one! Still have to add labels but nobody can tell that from a photo. It was soooo easy. The blue and yellow one is a quilt-as-you-go and the holiday one is custom quilted with sparkly glitz here and there. Lots of fun! I’ll try to upload full-size photos in my gallery.
