interesting books I found in NC

As I was trekking around Beaufort, NC this weekend, I found one of the two nearby quilt shops and discovered this book. It is very similar to my Diamond Star pattern but is a  much more complicated pattern. The finished star is 6-sided, not 8 like mine, and the samples were breathtaking. Check out this link to see the book.  http://www.softexpressions.com/software/books/4I30505.php

Then the woman staying in the room next to me was a quilter and as she was toting her luggage, including sewing machine, out – I spied this terrific book in a pocket of her suitcase.  She generously allowed me to peruse it. Wow – a pineapple diamond block. Check it out! I was blown away. http://www.softexpressions.com/software/books/PineapStars.php

Erin, Mindy at Sew N Save had the Log Cabin book (we both found the quilts stunning) and indicated that she might have a class. That was quite some time ago, so she may have decided not to do so. Would you consider a class to teach this concept? Since I am extremely triangle challenged, I would be very interested!

Hey There Deb – let me talk to Mindy about it. I haven’t read the book very carefully, just browsed, but it seemed a bit more complicated than my pattern. I’ll keep you posted.

    thanks,

    Erin

Thanks Erin. Just from a quick browse of the book, the possibilities as to design and fabric choice seemed endless. Just need to learn the “triangle” piece. Keeping my fingers crossed!
